Great feedback from delegates
The greatest value our delegates took from the day was the mindshift in transitioning from commodity-based accounting firms to a Value Add Service firms.
Engaging with clients in a different way produces an alternate universe in which selling value add services becomes easy.
Here’s a snapshot of some of the speakers they heard:
Steven Eager – MYP Corp
Challenge the way we think about client engagement and interrupt current patterns around how we engage with our clients in order to create an alternative universe based on valuable client conversations.
Bob Ansett
Engage your people to have fun & be profit focused. People do things at a whole new level when they are happy. The happier they become, the more they are willing to take on.
Jacqui Clarke – Deloitte Private
Are we merely moving with technology trends or are we surfing the trend to evolve our entire approach to business? It’s not enough to jump onto new technology trends in order to keep up. The real opportunity lies in harnessing the changes to evolve.
Cynthia Morton – Emotional Fitness
Commodity services are based on a professional’s technical ability, you’re either good at it or you’re not. Delivering true value is about connection, communication and relationships. This is determined by your Emotional Fitness. Clients tell stories – the better you are at diagnosing underlying problems within the story is based on your ability to ask better questions that separate emotional distractions from fundamental business issues.

What some delegates had to say
Here is some delegate feedback about why Near & Distant Stars 2014 was worthwhile:
“Diversity of speakers, hearing real life successes and failures.”
“Relevance and meeting expectations to challenge us to change.”
“Opened my eyes to other services, viewpoints, and ideas to reinvigorate growth strategy.”
How to make growth stick
Mindset challenge is a precursor to change. To truly shift from the old paradigm requires action.
In July, I co-presented a three day, interactive training for Partners in Sydney. This was for Firms who want to:
- Improve conversion skills and get clients to spend more
- Sell more innovative value add services
- Influence their team to proactively seek opportunities from new and existing clients.
This event was held on Monday 28 – Wednesday 30 July 2014 at the ParkRoyal, Darling Harbour.
